Pokemon Project: Paras



I love the Paras family. The cute little crab-insect-mushroom thing, the surprisingly creepy inspiration, Parasect being a zombie-crab-insect-mushroom thing. I just love Paras.

Unfortunately, I have never actually used a Paras in any game, so I don't really know how useful it is in battle. But I can tell you this, it makes cute jewelry.

Paras:


A simple pair of earrings, using orange beads and mushroom charms that I bought from ebay.

 Parasect:


This bracelet was a lot of fun to make. A simple pattern on a single loop of memory wire, with dangly mushroom charms and a magnet clasp. The camera can't capture how nice it looks in person.

With this set, I have completed the first TV Tropes page of Generation 1 Pokémon. If I make it to Generation 2 is a question I ask myself whenever my funding gets short, but I made two surprise sales this week. The challenge is still going.

Pokemon Project: Bulbasaur

I did it. My first ever complete jewelry set. The first Pokémon family in the official list - the Grass-type starter Pokémon that started it all, Bulbasaur. It's one of those Pokémon that even my mother recognizes. Unfortunately, my camera's flash isn't working as well as it could. If it was, you would be able to see the pretty green I chose for my beads. I've decided to keep the set, anyway. Bulbasaur: The earrings were made with beads I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby. Ivysaur: I used the same strands of beads for the bracelet, and this one does have an error. I used two pink beads in a row when the pattern said no, but I did decide to keep these. UPDATE: I changed the chain closure to a flower toggle clasp, in keeping with the Ivysaur theme. Venusaur: I used beads from the other two sets for the necklace, and I didn't get those from the clearance aisle. I did get the big pink beads from another clearance strand, and I made the charm

Introduction

Hi, I'm Nora, and I have a creativity addiction. I've been running the Baking in Black cooking blog for years, but I haven't been doing much for it lately. That's why I started a blog for any other kind of creativity. Here, I'll show pictures of my current projects, links to my video tutorials on YouTube, my self-imposed challenges, and entire blog posts on where I get my inspiration from. As you can tell, I have plans for this blog. I still don't know what it's going to be like in even a year's time, but maybe my readers will get to see me get better at art. Probably not, though. Pokemon Project: Spearow

Since the broken necklace from the auction gave me enough brown beads to make Fearow, I did not go shopping for this family. It took a while to get started even after I had the design in mind, because my wrist was bothering me again. Again, I used only leftover beads, so I didn't have to spend any money. Spearow: These earrings used two of the last four feathers, and some shiny beads from my Pidgeot necklace. Fearow: This bracelet used some of the beads from a broken necklace, the same one I used for Raticate's bracelet. It also has beads in it that I bought for the Pidgey line. I'm still going on this challenge. I am also starting to feel the strain on my budget. But I have a craft fair coming up and am still looking for jobs, so I might be able to replace some of what I spent on this project.
