Pokemon Project: Zubat



Wow, I'm behind.

I know most players find Zubat annoying, but I have several reasons for loving this evolution family.

1. I love bats. I have a good memories involving bats, Halloween is my favorite holiday, and according to Pottermore, my patronus would be a bat.
2. My Crobat in Moon saved me from certain doom at the hands of both Guzma and Kahili.
3. I had a shiny one in Sapphire.
4. Human attachment to the unloved.

It's not Mawile or Gallade or Eevee (my top 3 choices) and Lunala is a better bat Pokémon, but I felt I should give the Zubat family some respect.

Zubat:


I am so proud of how these earrings turned out. After being forced to abandon my original design because I didn't know the size of the bats I ordered first, these turned out even better than my original design. The purple beads came from Hobby Lobby clearance years ago, the blue ones from ebay (I think they're sold out now) and the bats are from the Etsy shop radrockmama.

 Golbat:


A simple stretch bracelet using the blue and purple beads from the earrings. I considered adding a bat charm, but I decided not to at the last minute. It makes more sense this way, since Golbat's official artwork, you notice the mouth before the wings.

 Crobat:


I made two necklaces for Crobat. The first was more of a 'Zubat colony with a Crobat leader' kind of thing, but I changed that and came up with this. The dagger beads were bought for the Nidoking line but didn't work out, so I used them up here and made a great piece.

I plan to keep this set for myself, partly for the reasons mentioned above and partly because I don't think I'd be able to sell a jewelry set based on Zubat.

I did it. My first ever complete jewelry set. The first Pokémon family in the official list - the Grass-type starter Pokémon that started it all, Bulbasaur. It's one of those Pokémon that even my mother recognizes. Unfortunately, my camera's flash isn't working as well as it could. If it was, you would be able to see the pretty green I chose for my beads. I've decided to keep the set, anyway. Bulbasaur: The earrings were made with beads I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby. Ivysaur: I used the same strands of beads for the bracelet, and this one does have an error. I used two pink beads in a row when the pattern said no, but I did decide to keep these. UPDATE: I changed the chain closure to a flower toggle clasp, in keeping with the Ivysaur theme. Venusaur: I used beads from the other two sets for the necklace, and I didn't get those from the clearance aisle. I did get the big pink beads from another clearance strand, and I made the charm

Introduction

Hi, I'm Nora, and I have a creativity addiction. I've been running the Baking in Black cooking blog for years, but I haven't been doing much for it lately. That's why I started a blog for any other kind of creativity. Pokemon Project: Spearow

Since the broken necklace from the auction gave me enough brown beads to make Fearow, I did not go shopping for this family. It took a while to get started even after I had the design in mind, because my wrist was bothering me again. Again, I used only leftover beads, so I didn't have to spend any money. Spearow: These earrings used two of the last four feathers, and some shiny beads from my Pidgeot necklace. Fearow: This bracelet used some of the beads from a broken necklace, the same one I used for Raticate's bracelet. It also has beads in it that I bought for the Pidgey line. I'm still going on this challenge. I am also starting to feel the strain on my budget. But I have a craft fair coming up and am still looking for jobs, so I might be able to replace some of what I spent on this project.
